Samsung was established as a company in 1969. In 1986, they started cell phone production. And, in 2003, Samsung is said to be World's 2nd largest maker of mobile handsets, in sales revenue (according to Samsung press release). In general, Samsung cell phones hold a good repute in world market and they're going at par with the newest technologies.

Overview of Samsung Cell Phones

A brief overview on Samsung cell phones depict that Samsung has done a lot of work in fun / fashion features and also developed new standards with time. The company mostly concentrated on clamshell (flip) cell phones and is number one in this feature. But, there are also many famous cell phones by Samsung that are not in clamshell form factor. The screen and polyphonic tones of their cell phones are considered to be top class in the market. Samsung has also released some PDA phones and smartphones.

Samsung Future Strategy

Latest announces and releases show that Samsung is taking the technologies a step further. Now, 262k color TFT screens are introduced instead of today's common 65k, 60 polyphonic tones are also there instead of 40, megapixel cameras with flash are embedded in cell phones instead of VGA camera.
Cell phones with sliding form factor are also introduced to get user response. Slider cell phones were introduced previously by Nokia (7650) and Siemens (SL55) but they haven't got a lot of possitive response. But this time Samsung took the chance and these slider phones Samsung are more elegant in look and feel like other Samsung cell phones.

Survey and User Opinions

While the survey was conducted I also figured out that nowadays most of the people need a nice look and fun / multimedia features in their cell phones. Very few people showed their interest in highly technical features, something advanced but difficult or an exceptional battery time. Samsung got a lot of points in my survey and it came second after Nokia.
Users who admired Samsung said that they buy Samsung because of their shape, screen and polyphonic tones. If someone doesnt like the clasmshell form factor then he wont see a lot of variety in Samsung cell phones. Furthermore, people also say that Samsung is not very efficent in maintaining their accessories side. Some said that Samsung cell phones if not costly then they're not cheap either. They're reatively cheaper than Nokia but expensive than SonyEricsson or Motorola.
